Click here to visit the Second Life island that's been turned into a fundraiser shopping event to benefit Max Graf, the much-loved 3D artist in Second Life and many other virtual worlds who's about to be evicted from his home in real life along with his family. The fundraiser, which the SL community put together the fundraiser within a couple weeks of learning of Max's desperate straits, runs until October 10 and is known, of course, as Going to the Max.
"I think Max is a really decent guy," says Alicia Chenaux (above), a well-known SL YouTuber who's among the many volunteers who made the event possible. "When he first shared what he was going through, he didn't ask for a hand out. He just asked if people would mind shopping his store. I thought that was really cool of him, since usually the first thing some people would do in that situation is put a GoFundMe."
And now Max's request has become an island-wide fundraiser featuring dozens of SL content creators will all sales to benefit his family:
"The fact that his friends were willing to put together a fundraiser for him speaks volumes about how great we all think he is," as Alicia puts it. "I'm not a creator so I couldn't help in that way. But I wanted to help, so if what I could do was push people to shop this event, then I was certainly going to do it."
Me too! Click the link already. And as always, you can go directly to Max's SL Marketplace page to buy some of his beautifully wrought items from the web.
