Since it's Halloween, here's "Harbinger" from 2010, one of the very best Second Life machinimas ever made, and for me by far the freakiest. Turn down the lights, put on some headphones, and click play. Created by Phaylen Fairchild, it's got great voice acting and a solid screenplay, playing off the tension of real life impinging on the virtual world. As Phaylen told me back then:
“As technology evolves and the veil is lifted on anonymity in virtual worlds, people have developed this false sense of security.” With people increasingly comfortable and open in their 3D avatars, she says, “The guard is down. I kept thinking, ‘Man, all it's going to take is one crazy.’ We've already seen it happen on Craigslist. The thought made me wince, and I just started writing.”
More about it here. One day some smart Hollywood exec will realize, rather than making yet another Saw sequel, they should buy the rights to "Harbinger" and turn it into a feature.
