Well this is an amazing mixed reality feat: 3D graffiti created by hand in the single-user VR platform of Tilt Brush imported into the multi-user platform of Second Life, where it can be admired an enjoyed in a social setting. Working with artist colleague "Bezerk One", who created the original sculpture in Tilt Brush, independent metaverse evangelist James T. Reichert used Second Life's mesh file upload feature to bring it into the virtual world:
“Tilt Brush can save users’ work and you can download [creations] as an FBX file," James explains. "Then, it is just a matter of transcoding it to a .DAE (Collada) file. Then, you slurp it into SL and set the colors to the individual pieces.”
Tilt Brush uploads are also being brought into High Fidelity, but I didn't know imports would work as well in the much older world of Second Life. Reichert (whose day job is Senior Creative Technologist at Microsoft), believes this could transform the SL ecosystem:
“I just scratched the surface of the possibilities," as he puts it. "Imagine entire regions built from ribbons of light. Imagine pieces that glow and pulse, texture animate. I think we're going to see some pretty cool things really soon.” He's been talking about these possibilities with VR artists like Bezerk One (that's him at right, admiring his work in SL with Reichert) in hopes others join in.
“What's so exciting, is this is no technical feat. Anyone will be able to do this for Second Life. Entirely new products will be popping up. Perhaps even new stores and categories... who knows, right? Finally, hand-painting... in Second Life.”

And like the man says, this is just the start -- another demo coming soon that's even more jaw-dropping.
