FASHION COMES TO SOCIAL VR AS SANSAR LAUNCHES USER-CREATED AVATAR CLOTHING MARKET
Sansar™, the world’s leading social VR platform, today announced the launch of a fashion market for user-created avatar clothing, opening new creative and entrepreneurial opportunities for users. In addition, Sansar has launched a first-of-its-kind integration with Marvelous Designer, the fashion design software by CLO Virtual Fashion Inc. used by numerous mainstream brands and independent designers. Fashions created with Marvelous Designer can now be exported directly to Sansar, where users can take advantage of realistic cloth simulation as they customize the fit and style on their avatars.
Virtual fashions enable Sansar users to further customize their avatars, bringing a new level of individuality and personality to the rich social interactions held among VR and PC users on the platform every day. For designers, Sansar’s fashion market also represents a significant new business opportunity. In the popular virtual world Second Life, avatar fashions account for a major portion of the $500 million (USD) user-to-user economy, and some designers have earned millions of dollars from their virtual fashion businesses.
More here. And do expand on your opinion in Comments!
I'll be much more interested in Sansar when they get some basic animations. Sit, dance, wave, smile, frown, clap, etc. What good is "fashion" really when all you can do is just stand and walk around in it? Avatar animation is important...animation is expression.

Just one comment on Marvelous Designer integration and remember I AM NOT THERE (in any form LOL). IF they figured out a way to import from Marvelous Designer and keep the "avatar complexity settings" low, then great as lots of folks that make clothes like MD.
HOWEVER Marvelous Designer is the number one "issue" on the SL Forums for uploading problems for mesh clothes. The problem is almost always the very HIGH COMPLEXITY of the garment. It certainly may ("may") be possible to keep that complexity low, but since Sansar is going to be user generated content, we are going to have to assume that the same issues from hobbiest designers will flow over into that platform.
I don't see how this is going to help what seems to be the number one complaint with Sansar -- the half hour load times.
Again, not my area of expertise, just what I see on the forums, so perhaps someone with more knowledge can reply here.
I won't be interested in going over until the Creator Preview extra TOS is gone. Haven't checked in awhile, perhaps it is. Still VERY busy in SL so my bags are not packed.

The avatars in Sansar is terrible. What i clothe them in have no importance. They just look braindead.

It's a start to make decent avatars but just a start. They have a long way to go to equal the avatars in SL. Developers seem to have a very low priority for avatars. Not just LL but Hi Fidelity and others too.

MD for a real license is 50 bucks a month... well tad under 500 for 'perpetual' and in this digital world thats a fun timeframe. So..yeah ok. Its not going to make your average sansar av look svelte but better fatty coverage i spose.
Interesting that the Lab are bringing in outside dev bits though. I kinda like that.

The Marvelous Designer integration is, for me, the first sign that Sansar truly is a next generation virtual world. Cutting out the rigging and weighting stage is huge! I'll be all-in when they improve the avatars and get cloth physics in world.
