Click here to reserve a spot to see a Sansar-based museum exhibit of official Star Wars art this weekend (tomorrow from 7-10pm PT), sponsored by the Hollywood Art Museum, and being promoted by Linden Lab:
The exhibit includes the very first drawings made for the film franchise and never-before-seen production art from the original trilogy by Lucasfilm alum Joe Johnston, Ralph McQuarrie, Phil Tippett, Drew Struzan, Colin Cantwell, and more. Museum curator Greg Aronowitz, will join the opening party to introduce the Star Wars collection, and attendees will have an opportunity to virtually meet him in the exhibition.
I.E. this is a movie geek dream. More info on the Instagram page of the Hollywood Museum. My minor disappointment is that this exhibit seems to be a literal recreation of an actual museum exhibit. (This happened a lot during Second Life's hype period, with dozens of companies and universities building dry recreations of their actual buildings, instead of leveraging all the magical possibilities of a virtual world.) I can understand doing this if the primary purpose is to show off the prototype of a real world space -- in this case, the Hollywood Museum, which is still under construction -- but dude, this is Star Wars:
Shouldn't a virtual exhibit of Star Wars art take place in a virtual recreation of Tatooine or Lando's Cloud City, or whatever? I'm somewhat surprised Linden Lab didn't suggest this (or if they did, why this advice was ignored).
is there an actual hollywood art museum? From what I can tell it looks like it's just an instagram page and not an actual museum
