Immerse Creator, the social VR platform for enterprise/real world applications I wrote about last year, recently added some powerful features, chief among them the ability to import FBX files, the file format for industry standard 3D creation tools like LightWave 3D and 3D Studio MAX. Watch the demo above by lead developer Jon Brouchoud, an RL architect who's been pioneering VR applications for over a decade, starting in Second Life. (For instance, he co-created Wikitecture, an award-winning VR architecture design tool.)
More about this update on Jon's blog:
FBX Imports
You can now import your own FBX models into Immerse Creator! This was the community’s most requested feature, by far, so we’re very excited to have a preliminary implementation in place for you to try out. There are limits to the import, which I’ll talk about more in the video linked above...
Model Exports
You can now export your Shapes Creations using the new export feature! It will only export your shapes – not any assets or imported meshes, but you can then bring that file into your own modeling software, or even use it as the basis for a 3D print.
With its singular focus merged with powerful features, I feel like Immerse Creator or a platform like it could become standard for VR enterprise applications -- as opposed to "all things virtual to everyone" platforms like Sansar and High Fidelity.
