Ever, Jane, the Jane Austen-themed MMO lead developed by Linden Lab alum Judy Tyer after her successful 2013 Kickstarter, has an updated website and a new gameplay feature that feels like fun: Butler AIs!
Specifically, Judy explains: "[W]hen you do your morning call, the butler answers the door and if the person is not at home, takes your card to let them know you visited. The footman is for the beginning (so far) and will announce you to Mrs. Hatch's butler. So for that I had to build an AI system which allows us a lot more flexibility in our quests (stories). I'm super excited about edge testing it (now) and then playing with it."
Ever, Jane was recently featured in the UK Guardian, and Judy tells me it's attracted a small but passionate userbase:
"We're tiny and slowly growing and I'm okay with that. The game is yet to be where I want it."
So now may be good time to create a character and grow with the world. After all, the MMO puts a premium on class and ranking, and what better way to seem like an aristocrat than becoming an oldbie elite?
I wonder if they have dueling and social combat areas.
