It's a small niche market for now. So were smart phones for a long time with palms and black berrys before the iPhone came along.

Magic Leap and Vaunt were two completely different products

Amanda, one difference between a smart phone and AR is that, in the States at least, the trendy post-Millennial kids are going to resist anything that seems at all geeky. They drive the market now.

That said, what will the next generation want? Some Xers younger than myself fought me in my classes over the requirement that they use e-mail for course communication. This was in the early 90s. E-mail was "too inhuman" or "too geeky."

I always poll students about whether they'd like an implant that would do all that their smart phones now do. It's a bare minority who say yes, but still...a few years ago it was only the geekiest kids who said "YES! NOW!" And unlike any pair of glasses, an implant is invisible.

We may be close to a tipping point. I wonder if implanted folks will still do that awkward zombie-walk that college kids do with their phones.

AR glasses will get a huge enhancment if intel is develloping also thier own glasses
