Here's Adam Frisby, founder of Sinespace (disclosure: a proud sponsoring NWN partner!), demonstrating a key feature of his upcoming, Unity-based virtual world platform: The ability to completely customize the home region that all Sinespace users get for free into a massive space. Above, Adam starts with a blank region roughly 500 meters x 500 meters (i.e. about four Second Life sims in size), and in the space of three hours, turns that into a hilly forest with running water, natural lighting, etc. This is done using in-game tools like Archimatix, and tools native to Unity. (Part two and three of his demo are below.)
Sinespace home regions can actually be built much larger than that. Also below, watch Adam create a home desert region with a huge wall that's 4 kilometers x 4 kilometers. I.E., Comparable to roughly 256 SL sims:
It's possible to build a home region this expansive for no cost, Adam tells me, because "[w]e've got a different platform model, and geographical space costs us nothing (and hence, costs users nothing)."
Here's the gargantuan desert wall I mentioned.
"We're operating on the idea that people should want to be neighbors, not be forced to be," Adam tells me. If you think that means multiple users can share the same free home region -- yes, multiple users can share the same free home region. More on that in another post.
As always, leave any question for Adam and crew in Comments below and I'll nudge them to reply when they can!
