Cassie's Clips: How to Add Brilliant Backlighting to Your Second Life Pics
Just up now, NWN's YouTube correspondent Cassie Middles has a handy tutorial for SL image makers: Transforming your screenshots with backlighting. (See before and after for her demo in the pic below.) For this video walkthrough. she's using Photoshop, but she also recommends the free GIMP editor to achieve the same effects.
Here's her core tips (and her favorite WindLights) in a nutshell:
"Play around with your tools. Dodge and Burn tools are your best friends. It's best to have the Opacity percentage on your brush lower than higher, because you can always add more slowly until you get the lighting you'd like. Also find a good WindLight that already casts a good light, and then you can add to it with quick details."
Speaking of WindLight: "These are some I made, myself. Also includes Bree's Appleblossom, my vlogging light, Anna Adored's Realistic Ambient, and Bryn Oh's Bluniverse."

You can also add whatever amount of glow ( and even projected light) you like to a background prim without the need for post work at all
