12 years after this blog was launched and dubbed New World Notes, devoted to covering virtual worlds and MMOs, there's finally an actual virtual world MMO that's actually called New World.
Created by Amazon Studios, the simplest way to describe it, perhaps, is Day Z, but set during the conquistador era, in a persistent island world:
- Join forces with scores of other players to form powerful companies of craftspeople, mercenaries, prospectors and architects.
- Claim territories and leverage your dominion to consolidate power and compel loyalty.
- Fight for survival against enemy raiders, brutal wilderness, and gathering evil.
- Craft hundreds of items, from magical elixirs and deadly weapons to sprawling fortifications.
- Sign in with your Amazon account to enable registration for the New World Alpha Test. Click “Email Me” after signing in and we will contact you with details when available.
Sounds promising, with lots of possibility for odd and interesting social emergence and conflict. Question is, when New World finally launches should New World Notes feature embedded reporting from the New World?
More here, and you can request early access through your (of course) Amazon account.
Today we conclude our exploration of Windsward. Join us next week as we journey to other regions of New World.
