Here's NWN video correspondent Cassie Middles with a helpful and very necessary tutorial for unboxing items in Second Life. It's necessary, because even though fashion and virtual shopping is essential to the Second Life economy, Linden Lab has allowed its user interface for owning and using items to remain incredibly counter-intuitive and user-unfriendly. Which is not only hurting the economy, it's frustrating newer users. As Cassie points out, many bad reviews in the SL Marketplace are actually about this confusion with the user interface:
"Oftentimes [the user posts a bad review] because they don't really know how to unbox the package they're given -- sometimes the designers give HUDs, sometimes they give boxes, sometimes they just give folders, but it all kind of depends. So if you're new to Second Life, this will help you out..."
Imagine the thousands or even hundreds of thousands of potential shoppers who gave up on the SL economy simply because they got frustrated trying to shop, and quit to play Sims 3 or another social/fashion game where they can basically do the same thing, but for more easily.

I wish there was a standard method for unpacking. I'm used to the convoluted ways of SL after 12 years but it has to be confusing for the newbie.
