I have looked at getting a private sim. Business models I have looked at and tried on smaller lots in the mainland sims could be hindered by the hefty monthly maintenance fees of an entire region. People need to take to my business and put their money on me to cover the costs. Knowing the SL economy is not as strong as it has been making it a risky venture. There needs to be an emphasis on spending INWORLD (change the market place so it will only link to inworld purchase vendor/land parcel). The maintenance fee cost is also too high for personal recreation and would be tough to justify as a hobby.
Gary Wheeler commented on '2018 Was the 1st Year Second Life Saw Positive Private Sim Growth Since 2011'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341bf74053ef022ad3cc4762200b2019-01-08T06:19:53Z2019-01-08T06:19:53ZGary WheelerI created a little map I'd like to share with you. Its disturbing in that it uses a Second Life bitmap image overall , but when you zoom in it shows data about only 13 regions (sims) being active in Islandz!

You might want to check out the area for yourself too.

I had provided a map for use in InWorldz several years ago which showed hundreds of sims. Its now come to this. What a shame, and what a misuse they made of a SL map too!

I'm also contacting Ryan Shultz in case he is interested in looking into it as a news item.
Don commented on '2018 Was the 1st Year Second Life Saw Positive Private Sim Growth Since 2011'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341bf74053ef022ad3cb6096200b2019-01-04T00:53:04Z2019-01-04T00:53:04ZDonEggbert convinced 14 family members to buy land using his own money.
