Anytime I blog a VR/AR demo created in Modbox, the multiplayer sandbox game platform from Toronto dev Lee Vermeulen, the brains of mixed reality fans proceed to melt. (Like say this one, and also this one.) So their brains should also liquify at this video showing Vermeulen hard at work converting Modbox to Magic Leap:
"Still need to figure out what mods will be included," he explains in the video notes, "and what the focus will be on for what kind of games can be made with it." Also, he's not as impressed with its pass through capabilities, compared to VR headsets he develops his mixed reality demos for. "Better in head set experience, but doesn't make as good of videos as AR pass through (and really AR headsets never will)." Still, with so much money being invested in Magic Leap development, I have to think many devs will find use for this.
Modbox is really a cool software, so it's a great news for Magic Leap having it in its content catalogue
