Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
“The Old Men and the Sea” is an extraordinary capture because it feels so organic, with a sense of place and time. In terms of composition, the sand meets the ocean at a third from the bottom and the man on the left is a third from the right while the man on the right is a fifth from the right. There is an old-fashioned feeling to the photo, not just from the men but from the desaturated colors.
“Mystic Moon” is pure drama. The tree is a dramatic silhouette. The moon looms so large we can see the details while higher and farther away a second moon shines. Is it Mars, which sometimes can appear as large as the moon or is long ago before Earth’s small moon crashed into the moon we see today? Is it on another planet? I don’t know, but I love the drama of it as well as its simplicity.
“Forgotten Pavilion” is the most compelling of her pictures for me and not because of any rules of composition. What draws me in is that she has zoomed in close to the pavilion so we only see the materials, but not the full form. We don’t see the walls, the roof, or anything but the glass and its frames as well as the ivy and its reflection and shadow in the glass. She has abstracted it away from its form and created something new that is compelling.
Flubs' photostream is an exploration of Second Life landscapes. She also tells a romantic story in photos from Sims 4, perhaps another story for another day.
