Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
It always surprises me how many game screenshots are of vehicles. Most of them do not draw my eye, but I was surprised by how dynamic these pictures from Forza Horizon are, shot by artist Tribal Graph. This picture is a Ferrari from 1962. What’s not to like? The magic in this photo comes from the curving line leading us into the distance. Depth of field makes it more real. The TBL for Tribal on the license plate is a nice touch.
This was the picture that drew me to Tribal Graph. Depth of field blurs the back car which is in the lead. The energy in this picture comes from the front car being cropped, getting us involved in imagining the whole. Compare that to another picture with the same title that is not cropped. It’s a fine picture, but has much less energy.
“Forza Horizon Painting” is a favorite. Here Tribal Graph has given us an abstracted feeling by blurring everything. The tree seems almost dematerialized, a ghost of a tree. There’s a spooky feeling to this photo, that feeling that you get driving down a lonely country road in the dark while rain and fog shroud your vision so you seem like the only person in the world.
Tribal Graph’s photostream is amazing and features well over a dozen games. So check it out and follow. Seriously, how is it that someone this skilled has less than 200 followers. Let’s change that.
