Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
“Sun-kissed” by Thalia Heckroth is a slice-of-life photo, a woman walking down the street, her hair bouncing and lively in the wind, her hand raised to push it back. I wanted to feature this picture because it beautifully illustrates one of my favorite things since mesh displaced flexi, the action-photo hair. Hair that flies away, falls back, blows in the wind, and in all sorts of wonderful ways does not just hang in smooth perfect. Thalia matched the pose to the hair and styled the clothing perfectly to create a story.
“We’re all human aren’t we?” captures a man walking down the street with some passersby. I love how real it feels. Depth of field carries so much water in all photography, but especially in Second Life. It makes the virtual seem far more real because reality feels imperfect, blurry, and out of focus.
So “Two-way street” made me laugh. If you check Thalia’s photostream you will understand why. She posts pictures of her RL pet friend and the virtual and the real are the same. This is a great composition using the Rule of Thirds, leading lines, and depth of field all to create a very real feeling to the photo. Add the blowout from shooting into the sun, probably created with a layer effect, and it’s a striking slice-of-life picture.
Thalia Heckroth’s photostream combines slice of life photos with vendor pictures from her eponymous minimalist clothing line.
