Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
I love Simone Fiore’s sun-drenched photos. You can feel the sun and sea spray in “When we woke up that morning.” It’s early and the sun has not yet burned off the fog so the sun is refracted by the moisture in the air, seemingly coming from everywhere. This is such an impressionistic picture, like a painting.
“I dissolve in trust” is another picture blown out by sunlight. Even awash in light, you can see the geometry in the picture. It is a white and gray picture that reminds me of the days when I would develop silver coated printing plates as the picture is beginning to develop (though without the hot pink developing fluid to stain my hands).
“The times I spend” is one that appealed to me because it reveals how cold sunlight can be. Anyone who has lived where there are long spells of sub-zero temperatures know that it is always sunniest when it is coldest. The cold takes all the moisture out of the air and the sun comes through, sparking off the snow and ice. When it needs to warm up to snow, you recognize the cold ferocity of a brilliantly sunny day.
I enjoy Simone Fiore’s stream quite a bit and I think you will, too. Her pictures have a recognizable consistency that is enlivened by her exploration of sunlight.
