There's still time to click here to consider helping save Hangars Liquides, the masterpiece cyberpunk city in Second Life that's slated for imminent de-materialization. Specifically, 10 days left.
Last week lead Hangars creator Djehan Kidd launched an Indiegogo crowdfunder to cover sim costs for the city, donors from around the globe have arrived to put up funds to save this landmark in the virtual world: "Our contributors are from all over the world -- Europe, North and South America, China, Japan, and wow, I am in touch with all of them," Djehan tells me. So far they've pledged nearly half of the $6707 goal, so Hangard Liquides' future is still far from certain:
"If I can't reach $3000 by August 1st," as she puts it to me, "I give everything back to the donors. If I can't pay Linden Lab and the city has to go, then I don't keep the money."
As that suggests, the $6707 goal does not have to be met by the end of July, since $3000 will be enough to keep the sims afloat in the short term. Also: "I will continue to campaign after we have reached the first 3K goal, and I will do what non-profit organizations do, like go register to also get art grants next year, and so on."
Speaking of which, Hangars Liquides is a registered non-profit in France, so it may be possible to write off this donation for tax purposes, at least for people in France and the wider European Union:
So check your local tax laws before donating!
