I love this picture from RAI called “Lost in Translation.” There is something so comforting in the lighting, the guy sitting at the counter eating his meal, the cook/waiter/dishwasher watching over him and the eager rooster keeping an eye out for spillage. It feels like a scene from a novel, something is about to happen, but not yet.
In “Back Country” the story is all about the lighting, the sunset yet to come and the campfire leave the man and woman backlit and in shadow. Still, we can see they are taking their ease after a long day and setting in comfort in front of the campfire. It’s a picture that tells a story, something true of nearly all of RAI’s photos.
“Private Words” seems to capture the alienation and ennui of the daily grind, the commute to and from work, the sameness of it all, not just from day to day, but from place to place and country to country. It reminds me of Damon Albarn’s “Everyday Robots”, a song I love and a cool video for 3D modelers.
“We are everyday robots on our phones
In the process of getting home
Looking like standing stones
Out there on our own”
Do check out RAI’s stream. He is active in exploring SL, often with his dog. Camping, surfing, commuting, riding the merry-go-round. He’s having fun!
