I may not understand what is happening in this picture, but I think it is badass as all hell. It is from the always original photostream of Calypso Applewhyte. She blogs her unique fashion remixes on her blog, Caly’s Wardrobe.

So this took my breath away. The outfit is extraordinary, but what makes it special is the expression, the way she looks upward into the light. I can imagine her as an acolyte for some interstellar religion. There is something otherworldly about it. I also love the tritone color palette.

I feel for those who fear clowns, because they won’t appreciate this beautiful photo. I love how she gave it a grainy effect with a filter or overlay that made me think of it as cinematic. Which made me think of La Strada, not that the clown’s makeup is the same. There still is something that makes me think of Fellini. 

Calypso Applewhyte. Is an exciting person to follow. She styles unique outfits and shoots them with an editorial sensibility. There is nothing expected except the unexpected.
