Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Sometimes a person’s photo is so stunning, I just fall in love with Second Life all over again. “Killary” by Tati Hara is one of those photos. This photo is on Buttercup, a sim I am pretty sure I have explored. But did I see this possibility? No, I went back and found that poppy, a singleton just to prove to myself that photo was really SL. She obviously is using a texture overlay or two to create the watercolor effect and the aged aesthetic.
Seriously? If not for the SLurl, I would swear this was an old photo picked up in one of those bins of old photos at an antique shop. Depth of field does a lot of the work of making it look realistic. The texture overlay that ages the photo also helps. The hints of green and purple suggest moss and decay. There are several photos of cycles, a theme of hers and they are all extraordinary.
This dramatic photo is from Time Portal and that is its name. She’s using the Rule of Thirds in a dramatic way, creating a “white space” of black with the building completely in silhouette, the tracery of the stairs almost an adornment.
Every photo in Tati Hara’s stream is a challenge to our concept of virtual reality, but it is not uncanny, perhaps because the few people are out of focus and seen from behind. She uses depth of field like a master and her use of texture overlays adds age and authenticity.
Speaking of pictures. someone has posted pictures of hamlet on DeviantArt that are very shocking/exposing with no clothing on!
