Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Groovie Goolies! Fresh from Horrible Hall, oyo’s “Hotdog’s Passion” isn’t really an homage to the cartoon band, but it was the first thought that came to mind. When I read her “About” page on Flickr I discovered she does not use PhotoShop or GIMP. I know you can create WindLights to give a sketch-like look, though I can’t tell you how. There are also some presets in the browser. I don’t know how she did it, but this looks like a pencil sketch. It’s such a compelling photo of people who came together to celebrate a favorite creator.
“Le Grand Saut” is a delightful example of how a monochromatic picture can create drama by making it about form and light. While the curve makes me think of the Golden Ratio, the avatar prepares her great jump between the third and half-way point. Her left hand is actually in the sweet spot of the Golden Ratio. The drama here comes from the light and how it changes as it gets closer and farther away.
"Un oiseau dans la vitre" or “A Bird at the Window” is another photo that draws its dramatic power from the light. You can almost see the dust motes in the air in the stream of sunlight. The brightness that reveals a portion of her face and makes shadows of her hands. I suggest a closer look at those hands to see that the title is a bit of a double entendre.
I also suggest a deep dive into her photostream. She has landscapes, action photos, and pictures of people that are dramatic and fascinating with a tinge of Gothic sensibility. She achieves amazing results using her Second Life settings, without any editing program.
