Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Happy Halloween! Second Life art fiends have a very special Halloween treat, another Macabre Challenge from Lawrence D. Pryce. Above, Mila Maesar’s entry “Mad World” is almost too creepy. Sure, it’s Halloween and it’s supposed to be macabre, but do we really want to be that scary and macabre? Talk about Tears for Fears!
I like Charlie Namiboo’s submission to the challenge. I love the composition. The avatar is placed according to the Golden Ratio. You can see her repeating the bit of coral color from the heart to the beak to her skin. I love the unusual 5:2 aspect ratio. It seems to accentuate the sinewy length of her arms.
This picture from Ginblossom Matters represents what must be the most terrifying of horrors, the fracture of the self. The self is a puzzle we construct through experience and introspection, but this self is breaking apart. It might be scary to be lost on a dark country road or in the woods, but to be lost from yourself?
The Macabre Halloween Challenge is the spookiest place on Flickr and it brings the best out of the best in Second Life art. Lawrence D. Pryce invites the best artists to participate and gives them inspirations to work from, so it is always the best of the best.

There's a broken link in this blog (link is to aspect ratio). It's to a figma article that no longer exists.
No pressure, but we have a free resource to fill in for this broken link below:

Have a wonderful day!
