Since Ayla's a longtime SL content creator, I wanted her take on creating in Second Life, versus Sansar. Here it is:
"I wanted to try my hand at it and see what I could come up with as a layman and without purchasing anything from the marketplace. I have some experience in Blender and a teeny, tiny bit of experience in Unity so I thought showing off what I was able to do might encourage others who also have little-to-no experience as a creator.
"Sansar's creation tools aren't quite up to the level of detail and control I've seen in Blender or SL, but that could be my inexperience with the tools, or Sansar slowly rolling out more features as they get feedback from creators during the meetups. For example. I think I've pretty much figured out how to add new textures and materials to objects, but I can't see a way to tint the texture a different color. That feature is super obvious in SL's editor.
"The script option window Sansar provides in the editing tools is super helpful for someone like me who doesn't know the first thing about scripting. And is a feature I haven't seen anywhere else. You just choose the kind of script you want to create for an object, adjust the parameters the window offers and the editor creates and applies that script for you.
"The next step for a noob like me would be to actually read though the training material available on Sansar and watch those tutorials. My little Halloween experience has no actual game elements to it. It's basically a walking simulator. Others, however, have been able to make theirs more like games by using the Quest editor. 'The Orphanage' is a good example, and is actually one of the featured worlds in Sansar's Nexus search."
