I love the bold colors in Jane Bang’s [Harmony Marquis] self-portrait in orange and yellow. I had to laugh, too, at the “Made In the 90’s shirt coupled with the Champagne Supernova lyrics in the description. Jane Bento is another pose0maker shooting pictures to illustrate her Space Cadet poses which are notable for their casual ease. Her stream is a collection of photos of her and her friends just chilling and enjoying life.
“Stoop Kids” is a great example of slice-of-life photography (and posing) with two friends sitting on the steps. They’re smoking a joint which is certainly something you would see in my neighborhood. Sometimes I think a person could get high going for a walk with all the funk in the air. Again she uses a bright splash of light to make the photo more intense and interesting.
“Sky High” is another in the same vein, a stoner photo of some friends chatting and smoking a joint, but take a look at that third friend. Sometimes I just love the sheer unexpectedness of Second Life. E. T. did not phone home! Add the dog, the bookshelves and the casual messiness and it seems rooted in life.
Do check out Jane Bang’s stream. I particularly love the photos of friends just going about their days, sharing a joint, walking down the street, checking out the weather, or sitting on a stoop or leaning against a wall. It’s all so natural and unaffected and that takes work in SL. I often think the hardest thing to carry off in SL is looking casual and spontaneous.
