Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Luane Meo produces beautifully romantic photos in Second Life that could illustrate contemporary book covers. Take “Cozy Evenings” for example, it could easily be the cover for a book about, I don’t know, a doctor settling in an inclement rural village, maybe to pay off her student loans. The furniture shows its age, but it is cozy inside despite the snow and cold outside. The candle illuminating the scene could be purely for romantic effect or a blizzard could have knocked out the power for the eleventy millionth time this month.
In “You Don’t Know” it’s evident that our heroine does not know how to dress for the weather. But the elements of a romantic story are there, an antique sleigh illuminated by candles. There are also strangely friendly and unafraid wild animals, so perhaps she is a veterinarian. However, she won’t last long in that outfit when it’s forty below.
In “Recovery” we can see she has somehow made it through the winter despite her lack of cold-weather gear. Now she gets around on a bike. Again, the elements of a contemporary women’s cover are there, the friendly birds, flowers, and a well-dressed setting. It is minus the ripped, bare-chested man, but those covers are for the monthly serial romances, not for the contemporary women’s genre that is similar but with better packaging. But never fear, he does show up, suitably dressed to make a snowman in another picture.
So I had fun with Luane Meo’s photostream and you can, too. She makes story-telling pictures that let you write the story. There is the fantastical element of extraordinary communion with wild animals, even with a polar bear. I think she might be Dr. Doolittle.
