I told you recently about Huckleberry Hax's highly ambitious, feature-length SL machinima project (coming soon to a YouTube stream near you), but you might not know Mr. Hax has a blog series where he's explaining in great helpful detail all the tools of his trade. For instance, here's how to capture a dramatic shot in Firestorm where the camera is dollying back as your avatar walks forward:
- position your avatar so it is facing in the right direction (ie, down the street);
- cam around your avatar to face it from the front (or rotate the camera using Ctrl + Alt and the left/right arrow key);
- apply whatever zoom you want and position your camera to get the composition just how you want it;
- untick the ‘Reset camera position…’ option on the Camera tools dialogue;
- start recording;
- press the forward arrow key to start walking.
