Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Kimika Ying’s “Curiosity Rover” adds a touch of sarcasm with a photo of the Mars Rover on Explorer Island. It appears she was inspired by a tweet from SarcasticRover, a twitter account that says stuff like: “Suddenly spending the rest of eternity on a lifeless planet devoid of any human contact while wandering an endless wasteland doesn’t seem so bad." It is one of the pictures in her Pandemic album.
Another Twitter-inspired pic below:
“Phone” captures the anxiety of approaching an object you know has been handled by many people and wondering about how safe it is. Again, she took inspiration from a tweet: “Bet everybody's wishing they paid the telephone sanitizers better and gave them more respect now." (The original tweet is from Elizabeth Bear.) I love how real this picture seems even though it was shot at Red's Mystery Shack,
I completely identify with “Starting the Day in 2020.” Checking the numbers is a compulsive need. I know checking won’t change them, but I still have to check. If you’re an obsessive checker, here is a descriptive list of sites with the latest information. If you want to follow the latest news from epidemiologists, scientists, public health experts, and journalists, Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo created a Twitter List called Epidemic Science and Health worth following.
In addition to her photostream, she curated a gallery of SL and RL art called Time of the Pandemic that is well worth checking out. I also fell in love with the art of Jamie Heiden which is in her gallery, so much so, I had to send her a note to see if she started with photos from SL. Don’t they look like they might? But she takes her own original photos in real life and works from them
