Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Zib Scaggs is a long-time favorite of mine because she really goes there in styling high fashion and avant-garde looks. “Lorea” illustrates many of the hallmarks of her photos. The outfit is very stylized with outré adornments like the spiky green accessories that are her own creations. She is one of the few creators who credits the other creators’ items in her display photos. There are some who might include a style card if you purchase from them, but she puts the credits right in her Flickr descriptions.
Coming up, a photo that portrays Der Blaue Reiter as fashion:
“My, my la de la come on not it ain’t too far” features an item she named Wassily, clearly after the abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky. He just happens to be my favorite artist. She took a few pictures with it and I am entranced. This picture feels very pop with the pink, green, and white color scheme. The title is from Bron-YAur Stomp by Led Zeppelin
“Strung out on lasers and slash-back blazers” is from the opening of The Jean Genie by David Bowie. There is something Bowie-like in her work which she has described as punk nouveau, but then there is something punk about Bowie. I love the color story and her discipline in limiting it to white, blue, and black. This has the kind of stark beauty that makes me think of Bowie, bold and outlandish, but always with discipline.
Music is a consistent theme in her photos. She goes by Zib now, but her legacy name is Zibska, the second syllable an homage to her love of ska, Her photos are often mostly white with pops of bold colors. But she does studies in black and shadows as well. One thing about it, her work is always original and exciting. You will definitely always see something really new on Zib Scaggs’ photostream.
