Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
“Cherishville” by Dodo Ahunu makes me happy. It has a lightness to it created by the desaturated pastels that suggest a simple ink and watercolor sketch. I like how the picture is divided into thirds, the road, the car and trees, and the grass. It draws me and makes me want to visit. Luckily he provides a SLurl.
More stunning pictures of Second Life sites after the click:
“Murder City II” is another photo that seems to divide into thirds, the two windows and the central walkway. It is another place I want to visit. I love the use of light in this photo.
“Ubay Island I” is ghostly and lonesome. I love how it all is lost in the fog.
Dodo Ahunu’s photostream is stunning. If you want a guide to Second Life’s beauty, you could not find a better one. He has many landscapes, but he also shoots photos of himself and of art installations. His subtle style is perfect for the installations, giving them an unearthly, fantastical quality that suits the subjects. I also love Impressions, shot at a Bryn Oh installation, though it is awkwardly sized for this column. It is spare and simple and rich with his exploratory spirit.
