Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Congratulations to Mind Carlberg for winning our #NoAvatarSocialDistance Contest! After Hamlet and I picked out our top three, readers were invited to vote, and it was close. By a nose, Mind edged out the competition with this fabulous photo of a man and woman at a club.
I asked Mind about his inspiration and how he created his image:
“NOAVATARSOCIALDISTANCE implies friendly meetings of course, so there's a band playing in the background. But not just friends. People you don't know, too. Like this blond-pink-haired girl. I mean, NOAVATARSOCIALDISTANCE is about ‘anything can happen.’
“ I go out alone, or I had to meet friends but they're not there. I feel free, I feel a little bit excited. And suddenly there is this girl—or this boy—we dance together, we have a little drink. We touched each other while dancing. Something is in the air. Just grab that magic moment: ‘I'm going to kiss you ... now.’ And maybe more...
“I made this pic in my homestead, where I'm building this city: Karea. The guy is the hero of my comic book project: Malone. The girl is an alt I built up for pics, Bianca. The crowd is made of ready-made avies that I have placed together. The setting looks like an after-hours bar thatI love in Paris.
“But, being confined, I spend a lot more time on SL, meeting a lot of new people and feeling new things. Then I tried to recreate that as a still pic. It was kind of moving to do and I'm glad you and your readers liked it.”

Good choice. One sensible (ish) person at bay in a crowd of vectors being attacked by an entitled predator. Shades of Wisconsin bar pic.
Well played.

Sure this is not a screenshot but a heavily retouched photoshopped and digital enhanced picture... Not portraying SL for sure.
