Génesis Rodriguez’ “Your Name Makes Me Think of Good Memories” is a beautiful and emotional resonant composite photo, overlaying a photo of a “memory” with a headshot. I love how the memory is in color while the person remembering is not. It shows us how memories can bring things and people to life long after they are gone.”
Rodriguez has a light touch, even with the macabre as in the next picture.

This picture is a vivid homage to Calderon de la Barca’s play Life Is a Dream or Vida es sueño. I cannot translate the title thanks to the use of characters, though I think it might be Enfermidad or Sickness. That’s my best guess. The quote from the play is “What is life? A frenzy. Like many in Second Life, she used her skills to honor those who she called “Angels Like Us” who serve in the healthcare field, treating people with COVID-19 at the risk of their own lives.
Génesis Rodriguez’ photostream is a mix of aesthetic nudes and truly profound artwork that challenges us to think more deeply about life. It is always interesting, though I find her most recent work the most compelling.
