Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
“Fields of Gold” by Gus (Gustavo Fredrickson) is a beautiful landscape. I love the color story, blue and yellow are complementary and look so good together. I like how he frames it with wheat and the brightness of the sun through the trees setting the wheat fields ablaze.
More beautiful Second Life simscapes ahead.
“Lighthouse” is an unusual composition. Most people use just a tiny bit of foliage in the foreground to create a frame that gives us a sense of distance and perspective, but he fills the picture with his frame. The lighthouse is placed by the rule of thirds, a sharply focused centerpiece of a picture that is almost entirely frame. I like the uniqueness of it.
“Into the Fire” is stunning. In many of his pictures he uses light as though it is paint - blowing out large parts of the picture. This gives us this brilliant picture stripped down to the essentials, the golden fire of the wheat and the sun and the iron oxide milk paint on the building.
Gus’s photostream is a mix of self portraits and landscapes. There are a few (very few) pictures that might clog your work filters, but in general he does pictures of himself in landscapes or just the land. He plays with color and shadow and sunlight so his stream is full of experimentation and always interesting.
