Geyer Schnyder’s “Just a Nightmare…” is well named. A nightmarish picture of a desperate man with a serious looking military knife. The background lighting suggests a car is off to the left but without certainty. This captures how when you are frightened your vision narrows to the essential, how everything else just disappears.
Schnyder enjoys illustrating the gritty side of life. More below.
“2 min. Before after…” is just a stunning portrait. I always like to see avatars who don’t look like they were made by Mattel and this avatar clearly was not. Schnyder uses light and shadow effectively and imbues his picture with character and history. We have to imagine the history, but with a certainty that it is not boring.
“Zombieland” is right out of a horror movie. I love that he is reaching for the viewer, trying to draw us into danger. Again, Schnyder’s use of light is brilliant, suggesting a place with just a bit of illumination on the bricks, but really focusing totally on the avatar.
Geyer Schnyder’s photostream is a lot of fun. Not every picture is out of a scary movie. Some are even whimsical. But lighthearted or horrific, he always makes a picture that suggests more than the elements in the photo could on their own. He is an effective storyteller with his pictures.
