Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
It’s raining today here in Oregon and it is such a relief after all the smoke from the wildfires. I know we had a big storm on the 18th, but it was at 3 A.M. and most people missed it. I thought I might feature great photos of virtual rain since that glorious torrent stopped between the beginning and the end of this paragraph.
“True love isn’t Romeo and Juliet; it’s Grandma and Grandpa who grow old together” is a lovely (Up-inspired?) picture by Angel Roxley whose June and Jonathan pictures were featured a while back.
Next: Is it real or is it Second Life?

I included this one from Feeling Constantine because I had to check the groups to be sure it was Second Life. It is one of the rare pictures that sent me to Marketplace to buy something. That is some hyper-realistic rain! It reminds me of the shallow end of the lake where I grew up. It was accessible only by canoe and paddling through in the spring you could look down and see the fish laying their eggs. You could also, if you were prankish, push the paddle deep down into the muck and pull it up releasing a huge bubble of hydrogen sulfide or marsh gas. The stench was horrific.
“Watching the Gathering Storm” sparked this fellow feeling that I think we all can relate to here in the West. The rain is going to bring an end to the fires and the smoke. The end of this disastrous season at least until next year. Lam Erin really gets that love of the rain that many people have.
“Rainchill” by JISU is another emotionally powerful photo. She captures the melancholy of the rain but in such an interesting way, from the inside looking out. Her color story is also very different, not the blues, purples, and grays of most rainy day pictures. Pink and orange and purple are bright and happy colors, yet she succeeds in creating this melancholy feeling with her pose, the facial expression, and the rain.
What collection of rain pictures could be complete with an homage to the iconic dance routine from “Singing in the Rain?” I didn’t know I was looking for it, but when I saw it, it was exactly what I wanted. By Maka Orion, “Come on with the rain, I’ve a smile on my face.”
There are so many great rain photos. I used “rain” and “SL” for my search of Flickr, but there are also several Flickr groups dedicated to rain and weather. Do you know of some great SL pics of rain, if so post a link and I can add them to my gallery of Fantastic Pictures in the Rain.
