Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Jena Lynn is a slice-of-life photographer, a Second Life Vivian Maier except of course she is shooting herself in the process of living, not other people. I love the appearance of spontaneity, the idea the camera was just raised at that very moment. There is no sense at all that the picture was planned and staged, but of course it was. And that is genius!
The next picture shows how powerful framing can be.
I love how she used light and framing. The light makes a diagonal line upper left to lower center while the bed makes a line from the lower left to upper center. The colors in the light are slightly “washed out” which makes the saturated colors to the right seem even richer and more powerful. As though to emphasize this, there is the box of colored pencils. It’s just fantastic. The cat chilling in the sunlight, paws flexed in sheer pleasure is perfection.
Here is another excellent picture showing how she resists the usual impulse to look into the camera. She looks away and adds a dynamic element. We don’t know what she is looking at but it’s more interesting than a camera.
Jena’s photostream is a delight from beginning to end. Her photos are exciting, naturalistic, and dynamic. There are a few that are a bit explicit for work, but the vast majority are similar to these, fun candid pics of daily Second Life.
