I love the post Bluebells from Gillian Waldman’s DeuxLooks. This is something I would wear in real life. I have many colorful skirts I pair with tops and sweaters all the time. I like them to be knee-length or slightly below the knee. They simply look better when your sitting down. I also love that she doesn’t care about seasonality.

HBO’s “The Undoing” inspired this next look....
It seems everyone watched “The Undoing” and since it was a free HBO week, so did I. I was struck by how many people were shocked—shocked I tell you—shocked by the ending. Well, they have just never read “The Witness for the Prosecution” by Agatha Christie which has been made into films and inserted into other series such as one episode of Rumpole of the Bailey. It’s a variation of a great short story and was thrilling to watch. Gillian did not “do” any of the characters but instead went for creating that mood of unease and sinister suspense.

Gillian Waldman of DeuxLooks prides herself on being an “independent” blogger in that she has no promotional review copies or sponsors. There have been bloggers who will mention flaws in their reviews even though they receive them as promotional items, but they often get grief over it, so I can understand her belief that receiving promotional clothing influences how people talk about clothing. Being “independent” also means she does not have the deadlines and quotas which have overtaken blogging to ridiculous extent. Her blog is well-designed and everything is easy to find. She has links across the top with her page about herself and about her policies as well as a gallery. The only thing I didn’t care for was having to click to page 2 to see the credits. I can see that it keeps everything up front without scrolling, but it seemed an unnecessary step and should at least include a second picture on the next page since we are asked to click through. One of my favorite things about DeuxLooks is that she blogs the kind of clothes I would wear. Her body is covered and she doesn’t look like she’s desperate for male attention.
