I love Skippy Beresford’s stream and knew I could count on him to have a wonderful Christmas photo. The expression of faith in sending off a letter to Santa during this grievous year is charming. I love that he is wearing a mask, albeit a see-through one. This is one way to show expression in photos while social distancing.
More of my favorite Christmas 2020 pics...
Honey “Stand with Durmstrang” is a lovely still life. I love that it captures the spirit of Christmas without emphasizing the reds and greens. Of course, red and green are present, but in a subdued tone. This is such a cozy and inviting picture. If hot chocolate could be a picture, it would be this one.
I love Michael Lysios “Christmas Tree.” It reminds me of going with my dad and uncle to find the perfect tree. He has a 1938 Chevy pickup that we could drive deep into the woods behind our house. Most of the forest was birch so finding a good Norway pine could take some time. One year, I took my nephews tree hunting and we thought we were so clever, finding a cedar tree. It would smell so good! Well, it did, but the branches were so tender and flexible that every ornament slid right off. We ended up having to use thread to sew the ornaments on the tree. Needless to say, it was sparsely decorated that year.
This is a difficult year for nearly everyone and many people are facing quiet and lonely Christmases. However, there is hope in the development of vaccines. We want to gather and celebrate with our friends and family, but if we can defer our gatherings, more people will live to celebrate with us. Meanwhile, we can gather together in our Second Lives and celebrate with complete safety. I hope you find some Christmas cheer. Look for even more great Christmas photos in these Flickr groups:
