Since mid-October, folks have asked whether it was too soon to decorate for Christmas. If you’re a traditionalist, any day before Christmas Eve is too early. People would decorate on Christmas Eve and then to take it down on January 6th, after the Twelve Days of Christmas. My family would decorate on St. Lucia’s Day, on December 13th. Much safer than a crown of lit candles in my hair. I thought it would be fun to check in on the Ghosts of Christmas Decorations Past. I love this one from Alicia Chenaux and how beautifully lit the tree is in the shadows of the room.
More Christmas Past decorations coming up...
I love this picture “Preparations for Christmas” by Leonorah Beverly. The poinsettia is stunning. The lighting, the details, and the simplicity of this arrangement is a great example of the grace there is in simplicity.
Then there is this lovely tree with enough presents for six families Anita Armendariz. I love the continuity of it. The way the present wrapping seems old-fashioned and rustic, just like the tree.
I know there is a lot of Christmas yet to come, from now until the 25th and then to the Epiphany on the 6th, but now is the season of Advent calendars and stores all over SL are celebrating with their own advent calendars. I hope these pictures of Christmases past will not make you feel like pre-apparition Scrooge and instead make you as celebratory as Tiny Tim.
