“Empty Streets” is the most recent post from Cloud and Sugar Baking Company, the blog created by Narumi Ushimawa. For all the talk of clouds and sugar in the blog title, the post is very noir. I am a fan of noir, though, and think a little noir adds a health antidote to too much sugar. I think, though, that it is silly to expect kawaii every day. Into each life some rain must fall, and if it’s noirish rain, all to the good.
- Outfit: [Val’More] - Gandz Gacha (The Epiphany)
- Sword: [Val’More] - Gandz Gacha - Sword B (The Epiphany)
- Bike: [Neurolab Inc.] Z-Tronic BIKE - Black
- Backdrop: PALETO. - Side Street
Ahead, something you’re more likely to find in a cloud and sugar factory.

Petal Rain is more in line with what one might expect from a kawaii blog. It’s pink and uber-feminine with bokeh and little cat ears and all the sweetness you can ask for.

Cloud and Sugar Baking Company is a well-organized blog. Everything you want is in the first window, information about the blogger, links to her Flickr, store, and a list of bloggers and sponsors. The blog posts are complete with info on the outfit and decor elements.
I do have one quibble and it’s one I have with many blogs. She values the look more than the reader experience so there is pastel pink and green text which I cannot read unless I highlight it. I have a bit of night-blindness and when the text is too small and there is not enough contrast, then I cannot read it. It annoys me but it is all too common. I wish people considered how readers are seeing their page and realized that we don’t know what it says so when it’s a pastel, it's really hard to read.
