I’m thrilled to welcome a new sponsoring media partner to New World Notes: The Really Useful Scripts Corner, devoted to fun and useful gadgets that make Second Life more like real life.
“I love roleplay and how Second Life gives you the ability to immerse yourself (as your avatar) into it,” store owner and lead developer Grace7 Ling tells me. “I started making my own things to facilitate roleplay when I could not find such items in SL, and that’s how I picked up scripting. I love how a script can make things ‘come alive’ in SL, and well-designed producs really add another dimension to the feeling of immersion.”
One of her latest products is a heads-up display that layers a fun roleplay gaming widget on top of users’ Second Life activity:

“The Really Needy HUD is a roleplay tool to simulate Hunger, Thirst, Energy, Health and other real life needs. Roleplayers can use it in their favorite roleplay sims to allow their avatars to get injured by fire, falls, or gunshots for example, or simply feel the urgency to survive because they have to find food or shelter by themselves, or barter with other players which creates great reasons for interaction.”
Go here for much more info, and keep an eye out for many updates about the Really Needy HUD here. Meantime, a warm New World Notes welcome to Grace7 and the Really Useful Scripts Corner!
I am starting up a large roleplay sim and I found a code that would make the perfect hud with lvling, currency, life, attacks, and other things. But I am unsure if I am adjusting it right. Would you be able to help?
