The new Archipelago region in Sinespace (a proud New World Notes media partner) recently opened up, and it’s a whole massive mini-world for people who love vehicle sims of all kinds:
- It’s about 20 x 20 square miles of land/water mass -- completely seamless from end to end. (Yes, with no region crossings.)
- Up to 100 people can simultaneously explore and socialize in it at the same time.
- It comes with free-to-play demos of physics-enabled vehicles: A jeep, and a very realistic stunt (last featured here.)
To play, download the latest Sinespace viewer here and search “Archipelago” in Explore. I just gave it a whirl myself, and was pretty impressed by the region design and the vehicle physics -- it’s just fun to go blasting around the island chain at top speed, seeing the sights, crashing a lot, and it will be even more fun when large groups of players are doing so. (There’s also vending machines to buy copies of the vehicles to use anywhere in Sinespace, of course.)
Built by Carsten Stark, who creates Sinespace experiences with his real life wife who he first met in-world, the Archipelago is his vision to create vehicle-loving social groups in Sinespace:
“I plan on adding hidden stuff for people to find, possibly even free prizes/goodies, and some points of interest for people to have as destinations. Maybe it will inspire other people to do similar vehicle-oriented regions,” as he puts it.
“In Second Life, the motorcycle clubs were a lot of fun where each club would build their own track for other clubs to come and ride together. The motorcycle clubs would regularly have ‘rideouts’ together, usually once a week. Would be great to get a club of sorts together in Sinespace, but not restricted to just motorcycles... cars, motorcycles, off roaders, planes, boats, etc... could be a lot of fun.”
Join the Sinespace Discord for updates. Karsten says he’s planning scheduled events and many more updates, but this weekend is a good time to start exploring with friends at will.
