Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Monday was International Women’s Day and I checked to see if Second Lifers were honoring the day. Sure enough there are several women noting the day. I enjoyed Silivren Atheria’s “Just a (Not So) Simple Girl” to which she adds a little about herself in all her complexities and contradictions. It’s beautifully done with a simplicity that adds to its intensity.

Liz Winteratorm gives us “Good as Hell” which was inspired by Lizzo’s song and lyrics. She expresses the contradiction many women acknowledge, that we’ve come a long way and still have a long way to go.
Num Bing-Howlett’s “Strength for the Future” is a beautiful raw shot from Black Dragon. It is backlit so she is in silhouette which anonymizes her, a representative of Everywoman. She looks to the future and can seem somewhat pensive, but look, her chin is lifted, a sign of strength.
I love that Second Life residents celebrate women and the day that promises that some day there will be equity. (And hopefully next year, we'll see a more diverse selection of womens' portraits, to choose from!)
