Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
I love it when people come up with some photo project that focuses on a novel idea that no one else is doing, and that is what I discovered when I got a FlickMail from Lacie Babenco, asking me to participate in her Shockstasy Project.
When I arrived, Lacie was looking quite demonic. She explained that she had summoned the red glowing box from “somewhere deep and dark.”
She continued her explanation: “I honestly don't know what it does but it compels me to bring humans to touch it.” And so I did.
“It radiates an energy but it is so absolutely silent. It draws in mortals to touch it,” she went on. “They each experience something unique to them, I have no idea what they feel, only they know. It's called a mix of Shock and Ecstasy - 'Shockstasy.' So I observe and send you back to your mortal world and someday, hopefully it's revealed what the box is doing....I like to think it's taking into account your soul and who you are.”
I am in trouble....

I love how in this picture, Lacie takes a very different perspective, shooting from inside. We see her through this tiny gap and it’s so powerful with all the blank space.
According to Lacie, “This shot is a bit different, she saw the box and stepped close; for a different perspective, from inside, you can see her face react at that moment she touched the ultra smooth surface. Her lips drew up into a snarl and I swear she made this little hiss as she breathed in. Her lovely face looked intense and even a bit angry!”
This picture with Skye Donardson has a simple beauty, in part because the picture is so equivocal. Is that fear or ecstasy? Pain or delight? Only Skye knows, though Lacie describes it like this:
“The look on her face growing slowly from some kind of surprise to wonder and... maybe astonishment? She didn't say a word, only a soft inhale of her lungs filling, my demon senses could see her mind on fire with thoughts, her heart starting to race. Her hands never leaving the cube as the red light so wonderfully lit up her face, and could see her eyes widen fully.”
With each picture, Lacie writes a short story, sharing her connection to the people she invites and her impression of their reaction. The project is still continuing so be sure to keep up by following Lacie Babenco or checking out her gallery: Possession Box: Shockstasy.
