Ifollow Rivers makes fabulous pictures of Second Life homes and landscapes such as this charming cottage by a river. They all remind me of the Romantics like Thomas Cole and John Constable. Her pictures represent the pastoral and picturesque aesthetics of Romanticism that include the human element such as this cozy little home.

I think this is a lovely picture, but it does make me laugh a bit. It features a small outbuilding called “The Moonshine Shack” and may be inspired by the Walking Dead or Red Dead Redemption. My grandfather was convicted of brewing moonshine. When I was young, I would go with my dad or my brothers and hike into the woods south of Red Lake where his moonshine stack was. Some remnants probably remain but the last time I was there, there was a ten-foot pine that had grown through the floor, the potbelly stove, and the roof. The size of this moonshine shack makes me think of an outhouse and no one would ever do their laundry and hang it in the vicinity of an outhouse.
This untitled picture shows how Ifollow Rivers can even make the forlorn despair of a prison yard look picturesque.
I love Ifollow Rivers photostream. With four hundred pictures, it is rich in beauty. I love how she can make everything beautiful.
