I'm thrilled to announce that Season 3 of LANG, a full-fledged streaming series shot entirely in Second Life, will premiere here on New World Notes next Friday. Fresh from lead creator Zatch Ixchel, here's the exclusive trailer above.
"This season takes place a few months after the events of Season 2," Zatch tells me, "but we also get a few glimpses into the past, and where some of these people came from. Characters from Season 1 reappear, some as their younger selves. There is one character briefly mentioned by Teddy in Season 2, 'Jack', who is featured prominently throughout this story. I think this season will be a real treat for anyone who has been watching since the beginning."
So now is a good time to binge watch the first seasons -- they're embedded below. Easily among the most ambitious Second Life machinima projects ever made, LANG has great noir visuals and voice acting, and dialog with a wry Tarantino-esque wit. As you might have guessed, theses seasons take quite awhile to create, and involve a dozen-plus SLers along with Zatch:

"LANG has had nine SL residents in its cast, and features many more as extras throughout the series," Zatch tells me. "There are also non-SLers in our cast [doing voice work], all of whom have chosen their own pseudonyms, as if they were residents. I’ve done voiceover for seven characters during the course of the show. Cameron Frye plays three characters. Pre-production on Season 3 began almost immediately after Season 2 premiered." He even brought on an East Coast producer, DennyDidIt, to create the original score.

Each episode of Season 3 will run about 10 minutes long, with the full season running about an hour. Creating it, however, took about half a year:
"The beginning, the idea phase, plotting everything out, that's what takes the longest. Once we know what’s going to happen, we write the scripts quite quickly. Writing took about a month, after which we record voiceover with the actors. Shooting took a couple of months due to many hurdles and delays, both in SL and RL. I would say the entire production took about 5 months from start to finish."
Can't wait to watch. Tune in to New World Notes next Friday, or subscribe to Zatch's YouTube to watch it premieres there.
