Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Nathali’s untitled picture of mermaids reminded me of the pre-Raphaelites who painted a lot of mermaids. Blogger/writer/model Grace Nuth shared her opinion at the “I Am a Mermaid” blog on the mermaid obsession of the Victorian painters claiming that on one hand, painting fairies and mermaids was how they could paint nude women and still create respectable art. However, she thought the pre-Raphaelites obsession was different, a combination of fear and fascination that led them to “represent women in their art as symbolic figures, powerful mythic creatures, sorceresses, and yes, mermaids.” Selinda Absinthee, the woman in the picture with Nathali also took an excellent picture but one with a completely different mood from different lighting.

I love how she has the sun shine through some narrow leaves on a plant, creating a pattern of light and shadow on her face. Even better, she shows a portion of the source of the shadows on the right side of the picture. I love how relaxed and at ease the woman looks, but then you look at her face and see this grit. In my imagination, she is waiting for someone who is about to get a talking-to. She has things to say and won’t brook an argument.
This untitled picture seems straight out of a Bogart and Bacall film, except this time Bacall seems to be the shooter. Is that a gun she is hiding? I love the mystery this picture suggests. Sure, it’s a three-quarter avatar portrait, but there is this hint of mystery and intrigue. It suggests so much more than just a portrait.
Nathali’s photostream is full of avatar portraits with a few action photos, but even her head shots tell a story because she captures more than physical features, her pictures create a character and an emotional context. They intrigue. She also shoots many pics in water and has a masterful touch at making water dance. There are some aesthetic nudes and erotic pictures with a partner. They are beautiful and tasteful with discreet shadows but they are probably better viewed at home and not on break. Please give her a follow. She’s an excellent discovery, one that is thanks to Whiskey Monday who sent me her name.
