Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Wildelands [Auttumn986] has an intriguing and beautiful photostream with pictures of two people who seem to have ensorcelled each other. They are shot together and apart and every picture is well done. I love this untitled picture with a recently harvested field in the background. The sunlight turns the remaining stalks into bright gold. She is in the foreground. Sunset is approaching and her skin has a blue cast from the shadow on her. Her makeup is smeared so there is a story there.

This untitled picture is taken with a friend she describes as part of her “soul tribe.” I love how depth of shadow keeps the details on them and lets the background be less distracting and busy. I also love their looks which made me think of His Girl Friday, a fast-talking hilarious film from 1940. You will see why when you see Rosalind Russel’s suits.
I love how she makes you work a bit to see how she and the cat have contrasting poses that stretch their spines in completely different ways. Her back is arched back while the cat arches up. She did not use depth of field and you can see how the background competes for our attention. But then, look at the two towers, the close one aligns with the cat, the one in the back aligns with the arch in her back. They seem to point to their backs where we can see them and catch the subtle humor in her picture. It feels like a reward.
I love Wildland’s photostream. She tries to imbue her pictures with emotion and succeeds. She uses black and white with ample use of dark shadows and bright light. She seems to be having a wonderful time in her Second Life.
