Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Baihley R. Hurricane takes fashion pics, but as she puts it, “I began taking photos in Second Life with the intention of focusing on fashion and style. But somewhere along the way I began caring less about what was worn in the photos and became more interested in the artistry and editing process.” You can see that in this headshot that is a fashion pic with credits (in the comments) but is more editorial than the usual blog pic. In this one, she desaturated all but her eyes and the butterflies, leaving these vibrant sparks of blue. It’s lovely.

“It’s Like You Got Superpowers” is a great demonstration of the power of intense light and shadow. The chiaroscuro contrast adds so much drama. With the cityscape through the window, the shadows from the window panes and the bold, intense light shining through where it can, it makes me think of a scene from a noir novel. I expect Sam Spade or Philip Marlowe.
Maybe even The Continental Op. Even the title of her picture reminds me of that character who was so effective because he completely cut himself off from people. After rescuing Gabrielle Leggett three times in “The Dain Curse” she recognizes his superpower.
"A monster. A nice one, an especially nice one to have around when you're in trouble, but a monster just the same, without any human foolishness like love in him, and—What's the matter? Have I said something I shouldn't?"
I love “Far Away for Far Too Long”, a very simple black and white photo that is simply lovely. But she adds just the lightest wave of blue toward the top and somehow that works to take it up a notch. It is simple, but often the simplest ideas are the best.
Baihley R. Hurricane is a microblogger who puts the credits in the comments rather than in the description. I thought I would mention that because I looked at a dozen pics or more that I wished had credits before I noticed. She does a lot of headshots and three-quarter body shots, though there are few full body pics so I can confirm she does wear shoes. Check her out, you will be glad you did. And thank you, Stephanie Brown, for suggesting I check out her stream. And remember, if you think I am missing someone, tell me here or on Flickr.
